The International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) was a sovereign wealth fund formed in 1984 and based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company was formed by Late HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the founder and father of the UAE, to advance his vision of using Abu Dhabi's natural petroleum wealth to build a modern, diversified economy for the benefit of future generations. Currently, the company manages a portfolio of investments in more than 18 leading companies across the hydrocarbon value chain, including exploration and production, shipping and pipelines, downstream retail and marketing, petrochemicals, power and utilities as well as industrial services. IPIC's investments helps build Abu Dhabi's and the UAE's economy by creating industry and jobs. The assets of the firm are managed by the executive management team. This firm has merged with Mubadala Development Company to form a new firm Mubadala Investment Company.
